Cell Line Description
Derived from a primary papillary thyroid carcinoma. Retains thyroid follicular cell differentiation e.g. thyroglobulin synthesis. Expresses wild-type p53 tumour suppresser gene. It has been reported that K1 cells have their origin in the thyroid papillary carcinoma cell line GLAG-66.
Application
K1 Cell Line human has also been used to study and correlate the expression levels of c-KIT (a receptor tyrosine kinase) and two markers of thyrocyte differentiation (PAX8 and TTF-1).
