Cell Line Description

An Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) transformed lymphoblastoid cell line with Human Leukocyte Antigen (HLA)-typing data available.

Culture Medium

RPMI 1640 (R0883) + 2mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 10% FBS (F2442). To help establish a culture the concentration of FBS can be increased to 20%.

Subculture Routine

When resuscitating from frozen, cells should be seeded at 0.5 x 106 cells/ml in the culture medium. The culture should establish log phase growth after 3-5 days. When growing well dilute every 1-3 days to 3 x 105 cells/ml. Maintain cultures between 3-9 x 105 cells/ml for maximum growth; 5% CO2; 37°C. Cells form floating aggregates of varying size.

Other Notes

Cultures from PHE Culture Collections and supplied by Sigma are for research purposes only. Enquiries regarding the commercial use of a cell line are referred to the depositor of the cell line. Some cell lines have additional special release conditions such as the requirement for a material transfer agreement to be completed by the potential recipient prior to the supply of the cell line. Please view the Terms & Conditions of Supply for more information.
