Descripción general

Syntaxin 7 is a 35kDa protein and is a member of t-Soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor activating protein receptor (SNARE) protein family. It is widely expressed in multiple tissues.

Inmunógeno

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 131-149 located at the mid-region of rat syntaxin 7, conjugated to KLH. This sequence is highly conserved (two amino acid substitutions) in mouse and human syntaxin 7 (~80% identity).

Aplicación

Anti-Syntaxin 7 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblotting and immunofluorescence.

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Syntaxin 7, localized on membrane compartments of late endosomes, facilitates fusion of late endosomes with lysosomes. The protein also helps in lysosomal biogenesis. Mutant syntaxin 7 lacking the transmembrane domain blocks endocytic transport from the early to late endosome. Syntaxin 7 has been described to play an important role during phagocytosis.

Forma física

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline, pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

The phagosome is a dynamic organelle that undergoes progressive changes to acquire the machinery required to kill and degrade internalized foreign particles. This maturation process involves sequential interaction of newly formed phagosomes with several components of the endocytic pathway. The

The lysosome functions are ensured by accurate membrane trafficking in the cell. We found that mouse syntaxin 7 could complement yeast vam3 and pep12 mutants defective in docking/fusion to vacuolar and prevacuolar membranes, respectively. Immunohistochemical studies showed that syntaxin 7
