Semaphorin 3D (SEMA3D) belongs to the group of semaphorin class 3 signaling molecules and is encoded by the gene mapped to human chromosome 7q21.11. SEMA3D is preferentially expressed in dermal fibroblasts.

Aplicación

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Semaphorin 3D (SEMA3D) is a signaling protein which plays a vital role in endothelial cell migration. The encoded protein has the ability to promote angiogenesis during development and repress angiogenesis in cancer. Variation in SEMA3D gene expression has been observed in hirschsprung disease and schizophrenia patients. The protein might also have a role in airway remodeling. The protein binds to its receptor, plexinA4 and directs the peripheral branches out of the spinal cord.
