Información sobre el gen

human ... CCR6(1235)

Descripción general

The gene CCR6 (C-C motif chemokine receptor 6) encodes a chemokine receptor that is mainly expressed in B cells and memory T cells. It is also found to be expressed in dendritic cells, spleen, thymus, small intestine, and peripheral blood leukocytes. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 6q27. It shares sequence similarity with G protein-coupled chemokine receptor. The acidic amino terminal contains two potential N-linked glycosylation sites, and two additional ones are located in the first and the third extracellular loops.

Aplicación

All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

The gene CCR6 (C-C motif chemokine receptor 6) encodes a chemokine receptor for the chemokine ligand CCL20, also referred to as LARC (liver and activation-regulated chemokine) or MIP-3 α (macrophage inflammatory protein-3 α). The binding of the ligand to the receptor facilitates the chemoattraction of immature dendritic cells, effector/memory T-cells and B-cells. It participates in pathology, including cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. In mucosal tissue, CCR6 participates in the regulation of humoral immunity and lymphocyte homeostasis. It also mediates dendritic cell localization.

Características y beneficios

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

Chemokines are a superfamily of small chemotactic cytokines, which interact with their G-protein-coupled receptors. These interactions regulate multiple physiological functions, particularly tissue architecture and compartment-specific migration of white blood cells. It has been found that the chemokine/chemokine receptor system has

A pathogenic role for Th17 cells in inflammatory renal disease is well established. The mechanisms underlying their counter-regulation are, however, largely unknown. Recently, Th17 lineage-specific regulatory T cells (Treg17) that depend on activation of the transcription factor Stat3 were identified.

CCL20, alternatively named liver and activation-regulated chemokine (LARC), macrophage inflammatory protein-3alpha (MIP-3alpha) or Exodus-1, is the only chemokine known to interact with CC chemokine receptor 6 (CCR6), a property shared with the antimicrobial beta-defensins. The ligand-receptor pair CCL20-CCR6 is responsible
