Información sobre el gen

human ... RGS4(5999)

Descripción general

RGS4 is known to regulate G protein signaling. RGS4 polymorphisms have been analysed for its linkages to schizophrenia.
Rabbit Anti-RGS4 antibody recognizes human, mouse, rat, rabbit, bovine, and canine RGS4.

Inmunógeno

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human RGS4

Aplicación

Rabbit Anti-RGS4 antibody can be used for western blot (1.0μg/ml) applications.

Acciones bioquímicas o fisiológicas

Regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) family members are regulatory molecules that act as GTPase activating proteins (GAPs) for G alpha subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins. RGS proteins are able to deactivate G protein subunits of the Gi alpha, Go alpha and Gq alpha subtypes. They drive G proteins into their inactive GDP-bound forms. Regulator of G protein signaling 4 belongs to this family. All RGS proteins share a conserved 120-amino acid sequence termed the RGS domain. This protein negatively regulates signaling upstream or at the level of the heterotrimeric G protein and is localized in the cytoplasm.Regulator of G protein signaling (RGS) family members are regulatory molecules that act as GTPase activating proteins (GAPs) for G alpha subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins. Regulator of G protein signaling 4 belongs to this family. All RGS proteins share a conserved 120-amino acid sequence termed the RGS domain. Regulator of G protein signaling 4 protein is 37% identical to RGS1 and 97% identical to rat Rgs4. This protein negatively regulate signaling upstream or at the level of the heterotrimeric G protein and is localized in the cytoplasm.

Regulators of heterotrimeric G protein signaling (RGS) proteins are GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs) that accelerate GTP hydrolysis by Gq and Gi alpha subunits, thus attenuating signaling. Mechanisms that provide more precise regulatory specificity have been elusive. We report here that an
