Tricyclazole is a systemic triazolobenzothiazole fungicide used mainly for the control of Pyricularia oryzae on rice. It prevents the fungus from penetrating the epidermis, thereby protecting the plants/and thus, protecting the plants. The compound acts by inhibiting melanization within the appressorium, causing a lack of rigidity in the appressorial wall.

As per Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, repealing the directive 91/414/EEC, tricyclazole is not approved for use in the European Union. A maximum residue limit (MRL) of 0.01 mg/kg is applicable for the presence of tricyclazole in fresh/frozen fruits, and tree nuts, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2017/983.

Application

The certified reference material (CRM) is intended to be used as a calibrant for chromatography and other analytical techniques.

The tricyclazole CRM may also find the following uses:
  • Determination of tricyclazole content in paddy rice using sliver colloid as a substrate and pyridine as an internal standard by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS)
  • To detect residues of tricyclazole and thiram in pear fruit extracts using SERS
  • Dissipation studies of penoxsulam, tricyclazole, and profoxydim in rice paddy systems using HPLC-Diode Array Detection (DAD)
  • Determination of tricyclazole residues in rice using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) along with the QuEChERS method of sample preparation
  • Degradation of tricyclazole (TC) in an aqueous solution and real pesticide industry wastewater (RPW) by electron beam (EB) radiation
