Cell Line Origin

Rat hepatoma Hybrid [H5xFao]

Cell Line Description

HF1-5 is a subclone of HF1 selected for it′s ability to grow in glucose free medium. The entire group of hepatic functions are re-expressed. NB. The cells are difficult to cultivate, they do not like either low or high density and should be transferred frequently even though they grow slowly.

Application

Gene analysis and liver function expression.

Culture Medium

Coon′s modified Ham′s F12 (or Kaign′s modified Ham′s F12 + 45mg/L ascorbic acid + 18mg/L inositol) + 2mM Glutamine + 5% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split semi-confluent (60%-70%) cultures 1:5 i.e. seeding at 3x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 37°C. Saturation density is reached at 5x1000,000 cells/10cm dish.
