General description

Fluid Thioglycollate Medium (FTG medium) is a culture medium used for the detection and growth of various microorganisms, including anaerobic and aerobic bacteria. The medium contains a variety of nutrients, including tryptic soy broth or Casein hydrolysate, yeast extract, glucose, and sodium chloride, as well as a reducing agent such as thioglycollate, which helps to create an oxygen gradient that can facilitate the growth of anaerobic bacteria. FTG medium also contains a redox indicator called resazurin, which changes from pink to red in the presence of oxygen.

Application

FTG medium is used in various applications, including sterility testing of biopharmaceutical products, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, environmental monitoring, and quality control purposes in the laboratory setting. The medium can detect both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms and is a versatile tool for diverse microbiology applications.

Features and Benefits

Our Granulated media are:
  • Safer - Significant reduction of inhalation of toxic and allergenic substances resulting in fewer allergic responses. Less contamination of working tools and environment
  • Accurate - No separation of components and no clumping, even under humid or warm conditions, ensure a uniform product with higher performance accuracy
  • Fast - Rapid and uniform dissolution in water
  • Easier - Easier handling and weighing due to the better flow properties. Media do not stick to the flask or container
  • Reliable - Homogenous distribution of ingredients guarantees high reproducibility even if only small amounts of media are used.
