General description

This certified analytical reference standard is suitable for a variety of GC/MS or LC/MS applications from pain prescription monitoring, clinical toxicology, and urine drug testing to pharmaceutical research and forensic analysis.

Morphine is a natural phenolic alkaloid, commonly used as an analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties. Sold under trade names including MS Contin®, Kadian®, Oramorph®, and Roxanol, morphine is also a commonly abused recreational drug due to its widespread availability and a high potential for addiction.

Application

The certified reference solution (CRM) in solution can also be used as follows:
  • Development of a hydrogel-modified carbon paste electrode (HCPE) for the electrochemical determination of morphine in very low volume solutions using differential pulse voltammetry
  • Combination of magnetic molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction (MMISPE) with high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to analyze urine samples for quantifying morphine
  • Electrochemical detection and measurement of morphine and 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) in human urine and serum samples using carbon nanohorns modified with Pt nanoparticles (CNHs@PtNPs) based sensor
  • Simultaneous determination of morphine and naltrexone in bulk and their combined solid dosage formulations using a stability-indicating high-performance liquid chromatographic method combined with a photodiode array detector
  • Colorimetric estimation of morphine and ibuprofen in human serum and urine samples as per the difference in the aggregation of citrate-capped gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) analyzed by infra-red (IR) spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy (TEM)

Features and Benefits

  • Fully characterized under ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 accreditation
  • Accompanied with a comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA) with data on stability, homogeneity, accuracy of concentration, uncertainty, and traceability
  • Rigorously tested through real-time stability studies to ensure accuracy and shelf life
  • Gravimetrically prepared using qualified precision balances to ensure minimal uncertainty
  • Flame sealed under argon into ampoules for long-term shelf life
  • Offered in a convenient, DEA-exempt format to improve laboratory efficiency

Although both biphenyl and phenyl-hexyl phases can resolve these compounds, the former exhibits excellent peak shape and substantially less silanol-derived ion exchange activity.

Protocols

To optimize hydrolysis using β-glucuronidase, factors such as incubation time, temperature, hydrolysis pH, enzyme source, and enzyme concentration must be evaluated for each glucuronide metabolite to be analyzed.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
