General description

Sodium hexafluorophosphate (NaPF6) solution in ethylene carbonate (EC), dimethylcarbonate (DMC), and ethylmethylcarbonate (EMC) is a clear solution of battery grade sodium hexafluorophosphate dissolved in a a ternary mixture of EC/DMC/EMC (1:1:1) (v/v/v). We offer this with a superior quality suitable for battery research with low water and acid impurities.
We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which adhere to one or more of The 12 Principles of Greener Chemistry. This product has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Click here for more information.

Application

The main application of 1.0 M NaPF6 in EC/DMC/EMC=1:1:1 (v/v/v) is as an electrolyte in sodium-ion batteries (NIBs). The solvent blend has a high dielectric constant, which allows for effective dissolution of the electrolyte salt and results in high ionic conductivity. The fraction of ethylene carbonate (EC) helps to form a stable, conductive solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) with many cathode anode materials. Ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC) and dimethyl carbonate (DMC) have lower viscosities and melting points than EC, and when mixed with EC result in an electrolyte with a good balance between desirable electrochemical properties, high dielectric constant, and low viscosity. This electrolyte has been shown to have good electrochemical performance even at low temperatures, making it suitable for use in cold environments.
