General description

Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) contains a unique pentasaccharide sequence capable of binding to antithrombin (AT), a plasma coagulation inhibitor. LMWH exerts its anticoagulant properties by enhancing the effectiveness of plasma coagulation inhibitors. To ensure the accuracy of measuring LMWH′s anticoagulant activity, AT-dependent assays are employed. Low Molecular Weight Heparin (LMWH) for Bioassays USP reference standard is provided as delivered and specified by the issuing Pharmacopoeia. All information provided in support of this product, including MSDS and any product information leaflets have been developed and issued under the Authority of the issuing Pharmacopoeia. For further information and support please go to the website of the issuing Pharmacopoeia.

Application

LMWH for Bioassays USP reference standard is used to prepare standard solutions for the identification and assay of low molecular weight heparins in terms of their anti-factor Xa and anti-factor IIa activities, using specific assay procedures as described in the USP monographs. Further information is available in monograph, 〈208〉 ANTI-FACTOR Xa AND ANTI-FACTOR IIa ASSAYS FOR UNFRACTIONATED AND LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT HEPARINS, USP43-NF38 – 6611 of USP.
