General description

Sodium fluoride (NaF) is a metallic halide. It has been reported as dental caries preventive agent. It is the most widely employed preservative for glucose in blood. It has been reported to stabilize hepatic microsomal glucose-6-P phosphohydrolase enzyme.

Application

Sodium fluoride may be employed as fluorination agent in the synthesis of aromatic and aliphatic fluorides, via metathesis. It may be used to prepare the lysis buffer.
