Gene Information

human ... ZDHHC13(54503)

General description

Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC13 (UniProt: Q8IUH4; also known as EC: 2.3.1.22, Huntingtin-interacting protein 14-related protein, HIP14-related protein, Huntingtin-interacting protein HIP3RP, Putative MAPK-activating protein PM03, Putative NF-kappa-B-activating protein 209, Zinc finger DHHC domain-containing protein 13, DHHC-13) is encoded by the ZDHHC13 (also known as HIP14L, HIP3RP) gene (Gene ID: 54503) in human. DHHC-13 is a multi-pass membrane protein that serves as a palmitoyl acyltransferase (PAT) specific for a subset of neuronal proteins, including HD and GAD2 and may play a role in the pathogenesis of Huntington disease (HD). It is reported to be dysfunctional in the presence of the HD mutation and HIP-14 deficient mice are shown to develop features of HD. DHHC-13 also plays a role in cellular magnesium homeostasis. It contains a DHHC domain (aa 426-476 in isoform 1 and 250-300 in isoform 2), which is required for its palmitoyltransferase activity. (Ref.: Young, FB et al. (2011). Prog. Neurobiol. 97(2); 220-238).

Specificity

Clone 26D1 detects human Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC13. It targets an epitope within 111 amino acids from the N-terminal region of isoforms 1 and 2. This sequence is conserved in both isoforms.

Immunogen

MBP-tagged recombinant fragment corresponding to 111 amino acids from the N-terminal region of human Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC13, isoform 2.

Application

Anti-ZDHHC13, clone 26D1, Cat. No. MABT1498, is a mouse monoclonal antibody that detects Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC13 and has been tested for use in Western Blotting.
