Gene Information

human ... BRIP1(83990)

General description

Bach1 and Bach2 constitute a subfamily of the basic region-leucine zipper family. Bach proteins form heterodimers with small Maf proteins, bind to the Maf recognition element (MARE) and repress target gene expression. Transcription regulator protein BACH2 mediates early B cell differentiation and is specifically expressed in pro and mature B-cells. This protein plays an important role in both the immunoglobulin class switch, oncogene-induced senescence, and somatic hypermutation.

Immunogen

Epitope: C-terminus
Linear peptide corresponding to the C-terminus of human FANCJ/BACH1.

Application

BRCA1 and the DNA helicase FANCJ (also known as BACH1 or BRIP1) have common functions in breast cancer suppression and DNA repair. However, the functional significance of the direct interaction between BRCA1 and FANCJ remains unclear. Here, we have discovered

BRCA1 interacts in vivo with a novel protein, BACH1, a member of the DEAH helicase family. BACH1 binds directly to the BRCT repeats of BRCA1. A BACH1 derivative, bearing a mutation in a residue that was essential for catalytic function
