General description

Hyamine® 1622 is a cationic detergent benzethonium chloride. Poly(vinyl chloride) membrane ion-selective electrode for the Hyamine 1622 cation has been proposed. Its sorption on soil surfaces has been investigated. It is widely used in cosmetics and shampoos due to its antimicrobial and cationic surfactant properties.

Application

Hyamine® 1622 solution was used as surfactant to examine its acute toxicity and effect on oxidative stress and cholinesterase (ChE) activity in Dugesia japonica. It may be employed as stopping reagent in the improved Eliman procedure for erythrocyte cholinesterase.
