General description

Interleukin-11 (IL-11) is a pleotropic cytokine that belongs to the IL-6 family. The effects of IL-11 include hemopoiesis, macrophage differentiation and thrombopoiesis. Many cell types including osteoblasts, trophoblasts, fibroblasts, chondrocytes and a variety of tissue such as brain, gut, spinal cord and testis secrete IL-11. The cellular effects of IL-11 are mediated by a multimeric complex consisting of IL-11Rα and gp130Rβ subunits. The pathways activated by IL-11 include JAK/STAT, Ras/MAPK and Grb2 signaling. IL-11 plays a major role in inflammatory responses, immune responses by regulating the production of IgG by B cells and in tumorigenesis-related inflammation
Anti-Interleukin-11 antibody specifically reacts with human IL-11.

Specificity

The antibody neutralizes the biological activity of recombinant human IL-11.

Immunogen

recombinant human IL-11 expressed in Sf 21 insect cells.

Application

Anti-Human IL-11 is suitable for neutralization reactions.

Physical form

Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in phosphate buffered saline.

Preparation Note

Purified using protein G.

We have identified and purified a novel cytokine, NK cell stimulatory factor (NKSF), from the cell-free supernatant fluid of the phorbol diester-induced EBV-transformed human B lymphoblastoid cell line RPMI 8866. NKSF activity is mostly associated to a 70-kD anionic glycoprotein.
