General description

PPIase D is one of a family peptidyl-prolyl-isomerases that help proteins fold during synthesis. Specifically, PPIases D catalyzes the cis-trans isomerization of proline imidic peptide bonds in peptides. Among the proteins assisted by PPIase D are HSP90, Estrogen receptor, cellular dynein, MYB, ILF2, XRCC6, GNB2L1 and RPS3. PPIase D also may regulate the interactions of other proteins including MYB and AHR. Through its protein folding exercise PPIase D becomes vital for proper protein transport and expression as well. Finally PPIase D is associated with assisting in the response to UV light induced apoptosis, cell viability in anaplastic lymphoma and hepatitis C virus replication and release. PPIase can be found localized in both the cytoplasm and the nucleus and is widely expressed. Note PPIase should not be confused with PPIF, or mitochondrial peptidyl-prolyl cis-trans isomerase F.
