Chemische Struktur: Chinolon
Nalidixinsäure ist ein Chinolon und kann die Aktivität des bakteriellen Enzyms Topoisomerase Typ II blockieren und dadurch die Replikation von Baktieren stoppen. Es handelt sich um ein potenzielles antibakterielles Mittel gegen gramnegative sowie grampositive Bakterien. Der Einsatz von Nalidixinsäure bei der Behandlung von Harnwegsinfektionen wurde untersucht.

Anwendung

Nalidixinsäurewird verwendet, um Bakterienkulturen zu behandeln und derenResistenz gegen Salmonella enterica und Salmonellatyphimurium zu untersuchen.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Nalidixinsäure-Natriumsalz ist ein Inhibitor der bakteriellen DNA-Polymerase (DNA-Gyrase) und der reversen Transkriptase des aviären Myeloblastose-Virus. Hemmt die Nukleinsäure- und Proteinsynthese in Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
