General description

K-homology type-splicing regulatory protein (KHSRP) is a multifunctional RNA-binding protein. It contains four K homology RNA-binding domains and an unusual C-terminal domain. KHSRP is localized in neural and non-neural cell lines. It is located on the human chromosome at 19p13.3.

Specificity

Anti-KHSRP recognizes human, mouse and rat KHSRP.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human KHSRP (GeneID: 8570), conjugated to KLH. The corresponding sequence is identical in rat, mouse, monkey, pig and dog KHSPR.

Application

Anti-KHSRP antibody produced in rabbit may be used in immunoblotting and immunoprecipitation.

Biochem/physiol Actions

K-homology type-splicing regulatory protein (KHSRP) is involved in several cellular processes such as transcription, mRNA localization and alternative pre-mRNA splicing. It is also involved in mRNA decay and microRNA precursor maturation.

Physical form

Solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide.

Storage and Stability

For continuous use, store at 2-8 °C for up to one month. For extended storage freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.

Approximately half of human genes generate mRNAs with alternative 3' untranslated regions (3'UTRs). Through 3'UTR-mediated protein-protein interactions, alternative 3'UTRs enable multi-functionality of proteins with identical amino acid sequence. While studying how information on protein features is transferred from 3'UTRs to
