General description

Aflatoxins are a group of hypertoxic secondary metabolites produced by fungi of the genus Aspergillus, mostly A. flavus, A. Parasiticus, and A. nomius. Of the 20 aflatoxins identified so far, B1, B2, G1, and G2 are the four naturally occurring aflatoxins. Aflatoxin B1-13C17 is the 13C isotope-labeled analog of mycotoxin, aflatoxin B1.

Application

Aflatoxin B1-13C17 may be used as an internal standard for the determination of aflatoxin B1 in food grade gums, Pu-erh tea samples, animal feedmilk, milk-based infant formula, and feed samples by stable isotope dilution and liquid chromatography combined with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
