General description

QIK (Qin-induced Kinase, SNF1LK2, SIK2, Salt-induced protein Kinase 2) is a Ser/Thr kinase that belongs to the AMPK/SNF1 kinase family. QIK is phosphorylated and activated by the tumor suppressor LKB1 when in complex with the pseudokinase STRAD and the scaffolding protein MO25. QIK has been found in adipocytes where it is known to phosphorylate a few substrates that include insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1) on Ser794 and TORC2 (also known as CRTC2 and not to be confused with the mTOR complex) on Ser171. The phosphorylation of TORC2 results in its translocation to the nucleus where it binds to CREB.

Specificity

Close homology with mouse, rat, chicken, dog, and cow.
Detects QIK

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-term of human QIK.

Application
