Description générale

SLC27A3 (Solute carrier family 27 (fatty acid transporter), member 3) is a plasma membrane located, fatty acid transport protein. It is a novel member of fatty acid transport protein (FATP) family. The protein is expressed in the adrenal, testis, ovary, and young brain and is localized to the subcellular vesicles of mitochondria.

Application

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

SLC27A3 (Solute carrier family 27 (fatty acid transporter), member 3) plays a vital role in the lipid metabolic pathway. Its elevated expression has been reported in malignant brain tumor tissues which indicate its involvement in tumorigenesis. It regulates the glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) stem cell self-renewal. It has been concluded from some studies that SLC27A3 can be a potential therapeutic gene in lung cancer.
