Description générale

PAR-4 is a pro-apoptotic protein capable of selectively inducing apoptosis in cancer cells and sensitizing the cells to diverse apoptotic stimuli causing tumor regression. PAR-4 also seems to be a transcriptional repressor and is involved in regulating APP expression and the cleavage activity of BACE1. PAR-4 interacts with several proteins including WT1, but also various kinases, and structural proteins like Actin, BACE1, SPSB1, SPSB2, and SPSB4. PAR4 is localized in the cytoplasm in non-apoptotic cells but is nuclear localized in cancer and apoptotic cells. PAR-4 is widely expressed and elevated in neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS, Alzheimer, Parkinson and Huntington diseases as well as stroke. PAR-4 is down regulated in cancers.

Immunogène

Epitope: C-terminus
GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the C-terminus of human PAR-4.

Application

Anti-PAR-4 Antibody is an antibody against PAR-4 for use in Western Blotting.

Qualité

Evaluated by Western Blotting in Y-79 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1.0 µg/mL of this antibody detected PAR-4 in 10 µg of Y-79 cell lysate.

Description de la cible

~45 kDa observed. The calculated molecular weight is 36 kDa, however PAR-4 has been shown as a ~45 kDa band in some western blots (Masters, S.L., et al. (2006). Nature Structural & Mole. Biol. 13(1):77-84).
