General description
Economical, flexible PTFE tubing is ideal for use at pressures up to 500 psi (35 kg/cm2). Use in automatic analyzer, postcolumn reaction, preparative scale systems, in-stream sampling devices, and when monitoring physiologically important compounds.
The maximum recommended operating temperature for PTFE is 200 °C, but short term exposure to higher temperatures seldom causes damage.

Application
- How changes in column geometry and packing ratio can increase sample load and throughput by a factor of fifty in Counter-Current Chromatography.: This research discusses the optimization of column geometry and packing ratios in counter-current chromatography, enhancing sample load capacity and throughput using PTFE tubing, which serves as a flexible and chemically inert medium for the operation (Peng et al., 2018).
- Sequential injection anodic stripping voltammetry with monosegmented flow and in-line UV digestion for determination of Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(II) and Cu(II) in water samples.: This study showcases a method using PTFE tubing in a sequential injection system to analyze heavy metals in water samples, emphasizing the tubing′s resistance to corrosive conditions and its role in sample transport (Siriangkhawut et al., 2011).
- Photo-induced fluorescence of magnesium derivatives of tetracycline antibiotics in wastewater samples.: This article explores the use of PTFE tubing in a setup for detecting antibiotics in wastewater through photo-induced fluorescence, illustrating PTFE′s utility in maintaining sample integrity under photochemical conditions (Pena et al., 2010).
- Online phototransformation-flow injection chemiluminescence determination of triclosan.: Research on the online photochemical transformation of triclosan, utilizing PTFE tubing in the chemiluminescence detection system, highlights its effectiveness in sample handling and reaction containment (Song et al., 2007).
- High-performance liquid chromatography: photochemical reduction in aerobic conditions for determination of K vitamins using fluorescence detection.: The study employs PTFE tubing in an HPLC system for the photochemical reduction of vitamins, demonstrating the tubing′s role in enhancing detection sensitivity and preventing sample degradation (Pérez-Ruiz et al., 2007).
