General description
PKCγ (protein kinase C γ) is a s a serine/threonine kinase belonging to the protein kinase C (PKC) family. PKCγ is mainly present in the central nervous system and is strongly expressed in cerebellar Purkinje cells.
Biochem/physiol Actions
PKCγ (protein kinase C γ) is involved in cell proliferation, differentiation as well as migration. Mutations in PKCγ are associated with neurodegenerative disease, spinocerebellar ataxia type 14. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in PKCγ are also linked with high risk of osteosarcoma.
Physical form
Supplied in 50 mM Tris-HCl, pH 7.5, with 150 mM NaCl, 0.2 5mM DTT, 0.1 mM EGTA, 0.1 mM EDTA, 0.1 mM PMSF, and 25% glycerol.

Human molecular genetics, 24(2), 525-539 (2014-09-14)
Amyloid assemblies are associated with a wide range of human disorders, including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. Here, we identify protein kinase C (PKC) γ, a serine/threonine kinase mutated in the neurodegenerative disease spinocerebellar ataxia type 14 (SCA14), as a novel

The objective of this study was to explore the relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the protein kinase C gamma (PRKCG) gene and osteosarcoma susceptibility in Chinese Han population. A total of 610 cases of osteosarcoma patients and 610 healthy

Neurons can be preconditioned against ischemic damage by a brief sublethal period of ischemia, applied several days before the second insult. Here we report on changes in the distribution and the levels of protein kinase Cgamma (PKCgamma) in nonconditioned and

13 murine tissues and 12 cell lines were tested for the expression of the novel protein kinase C (PKC) isoenzyme mu. Using two different PKC mu antibodies (sc-639 and P26720), PKC mu was detected in all tissues and cells and

Osteosarcoma is a common malignant tumor, which exists widely in the bone of children and adolescents. Protein kinase C gamma (PRKCG) gene, which encodes γPKC, plays important roles in tumor promotion, cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. The objective of the
