N-Formyl-Met-Leu-Phe is a potent chemotactic peptide and formyl peptide receptor (FPR) agonist that induces a metabolic burst in macrophages accompanied by an increase in respiratory rate, secretion of lysosomal enzymes, and production of superoxide anion.
