General description

Gingerol is the pungent component of ginger roots. 8-Gingerol has a chain length of n8. It is a homologous series of phenolic ketones.
[8]-Gingerol is a bioactive constituent of ginger. It exhibits anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anti-oxidant and anti-ulcer properties.

Application

It may be used as reference standard during quantification of 6-, 8- and 10-gingerols and 6-shogaol in human plasma using HPLC with electrochemical detection.
[8]-Gingerol may be used as a reference standard in the determination of [8]-gingerol in dietary supplements, food products and beverages using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Biochem/physiol Actions

[8]-Gingerol is a bioactive compound found in ginger (Zingiber officinale) with anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activity.

Ginger shows promising anticancer properties. No research has examined the pharmacokinetics of the ginger constituents 6-gingerol, 8-gingerol, 10-gingerol, and 6-shogaol in humans. We conducted a clinical trial with 6-gingerol, 8-gingerol, 10-gingerol, and 6-shogaol, examining the pharmacokinetics and tolerability of these
