General description

Kallikreins-related peptidases (KLKs) are proteases that are important for the desquamation process of the skin (cell shedding). Kallikreins are also associated with carcinogenesis and some serve as a novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. Kallikrein-13/KLK13 is important in lung cancer by allowing lung adenocarcinoma spreading through promoting the expression of various adhesion molecules and it in assisting in extracellular matrix protein degradation necessary for movement. Kallikrein-13/KLK13 also plays a role in salivary tumors and ovarian cancer as well as other cancers in a similar fashion. In both normal and cancerous tissues, Kallikrein-13/KLK13 is secreted into the ECM and expressed in many tissues in both the embryo and adult.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to Human Kallikrein-13/KLK13.

Application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A representative lot of this antibody detected Kallikrein-13/KLK13 in Normal ovarian surface epithelium and epithelial ovarian cancer tissues (White et al., (2009) British Journal of Cancer. 101:1107-1113).

ELISA: A representative lot of this antibody detected various Kallikrein-13/KLK13 concentrations of several human tissues (Kapadia et al., (2003) Clinical chemistry. 49(1):77–86).
This Anti-Kallikrein-13/KLK13 Antibody, clone 33.1 is validated for use in Immunohistochemistry and ELISA for the detection of Kallikrein-13/KLK13.

Quality

Evaluated by Immunohistochemistry in human lung and human prostate tissue.

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution of this antibody detected Kallikrein-13/KLK13 in human prostate tissue.

The human kallikrein-related peptidase family consists of 15 genes. Twelve of these genes are overexpressed in ovarian cancer and may represent potential markers for diagnosis, prognosis, and/or response to treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the prognostic
