General description

Albumin, Bovine Serum, Fraction V, Fatty Acid-Poor, Endotoxin-Free is designed for use in cell culture systems and animal perfusion studies. It has a pH of 7.0 (1% solution).
Bovine serum albumin (BSA), a member of the serum albumin family, contains three domains and two sub-domains under each. It is a non-glycosylated globular, α-helical protein that has 17-disulfide bonds.

Application

Albumin, Bovine Serum, Fraction V, Fatty Acid-Poor, Endotoxin-Free has been used in the preparation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs). It has also been used to dilute lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) and in the stimulation and fixation of whole blood cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is the most important constituent of cell culture media. It aids embryonic stem cells (hESC) differentiation. BSA facilitates the transport of drugs, hormones, and fatty acids. It elicits high solubility and is suitable in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. It is applicable as a blocking agent in enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).
