General description

Method: colorimetric with color card and comparator block with short test tubes 0.03 - 0.06 - 0.10 - 0.15 - 0.2 - 0.3 - 0.4 - 0.5 - 0.7 mg/l CN⁻ MQuant®
The MQuant® Cyanide test (formally MColortest®) measures free cyanide ions e.g. in
  • Groundwater and surface water
  • Drinking water and mineral water
  • Waters from aquaculture
  • Industrial water
  • Wastewater and percolating water
  • Electroplating wastewater
This test is not suited for seawater.

Method
Cyanide ions react with a chlorinating agent to form cyanogen chloride, which in turn reacts with 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid in the presence of pyridine to form a violet dye (König reaction). The cyanide concentration is measured semiquantitatively by visual comparison of the color of the measurement solution with the color fields of a color card. The unique brilliance of the print and their fine color graduation allow precise analyses, even at the lower end of the concentration range.
Using the refill pack 1.18457 containing all the reagents, the original test kit can be used for a very long time, making it a particularly economical and ecological system.
