Allgemeine Beschreibung

Anti-PKD1 Antibody detects endogenous levels of total PKD1 protein.
Polycystic kidney disease 1/polycystin-1 (PKD1/PC1) gene comprises of 46 exons and spans approximately 52 kb of genomic sequence. Polycystin-1 (PC1) is expressed at high levels in the brain and moderately in the kidney in adult tissue. It is present in the primary cilium of most mammalian cells. PC1 is also located at focal adhesions, desmosomes, and adherens junctions in the plasma membrane. Anti-PKD1 antibody detects endogenous levels of total PKD1 protein.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human PKD1/PKC mu.

Immunogen Range: 171-220

Anwendung

Anti-PKD1 antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blot analysis(1:500).

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Polycystic kidney disease 1/polycystin-1 (PKD1/PC1) plays a regulatory role in cell migration and cell proliferation through mammalian targets of rapamycin (mTOR) and Janus kinase (JAK) signals. PKD1 inhibits cell migration and in some situations, acts as a tumor suppressor protein in the lung cancer cell line (A549). Before birth, polycystin-1 is the most active protein in kidney cells, and it interacts and works with polycystin-2 (PKD2). Mutations in the PKD1 gene are responsible for 85 percent of polycystic kidney diseases (PKDs).
