Allgemeine Beschreibung

Bone γ-carboxyglutamate protein (BGLAP) or osteocalcin (OCN) is a non-collagenous bone matrix protein expressed by osteoblasts. It possesses a Gla (γ-carboxyglutamate) domain. The gene encoding OCN is localized on human chromosome 1q22.

Anwendung

ANTI-OSTEOCALCIN(N-TERMINAL) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in western blotting and immnuohistochemistry.

Biochem./physiol. Wirkung

Bone γ-carboxyglutamate protein (BGLAP) regulates osteogenic differentiation of mesenchymal stromal cells. It has a role in bone turnover and mineralization. The protein also has a role in energy metabolism. BGLAP may act as a mediator between glucose metabolism and bone tissue.
