Description générale

Fetuin A, also known as Alpha-2-HS-glycoprotein (AHSG), Alpha-2-Z-globulin or Ba-alpha-2-glycoprotein, is a member of the cystatin superfamily of cysteine protease inhibitors. Fetuin A is a secreted calcium-regulatory glycoprotein produced by liver Hepatocytes. It is cleaved into two chains bound by disulfide bonds and inhibits ectopic Ca×PO4 ion precipitation and vascular calcification.
Monoclonal Anti-Fetuin A (mouse IgM isotype) is derived from the Fet A-M hybridoma, produced by the fusion of mouse myeloma cells and splenocytes from a BALB/C mouse immunized with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the internal region of human AHSG (Fetuin A), conjugated to KLH as immunogen. Fetuin A is a 64 kDa protein, predominantly localized to the blood.

Spécificité

Monoclonal Anti-Fetuin A specifically recognizes Fetuin A from human plasma.

Immunogène

Synthetic peptide corresponding to human Fution A internal region, conjugated to KLH

Application

The antibody is recommended for use in various immunological techniques including Immunoblotting, Immunohistochemistry and ELISA.

Actions biochimiques/physiologiques

Fetuin A is a secreted calcium-regulatory glycoprotein produced by liver hepatocytes. It is cleaved into two chains bound by disulphide bonds and inhibits ectopic Ca×PO4 ion precipitation and vascular calcification.
Reduction in the serum fetuin might indicate coronary artery disease. Fetuin is also implicated in insulin resistance and metabolic syndrome. Increased levels of fetuin A is observed in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.
Fetuin A is consider to be a negative acute-phase reactant and its serum concentration decreases in response to inflammation, compared with normal levels. In addition, it acts as a mineral chaperone to facilitate the transport and removal of potentially proinflammatory and procalcific cargo (waste).Fetuin A plays a major role in numerous diseases and pathophysiological conditions involved with calcium metabolisms.

Forme physique

Supplied as a solution in 0.01 M phosphate buffered saline pH 7.4, containing 15 mM sodium azide as a preservative.

Stockage et stabilité

For continuous use, store at 2-8°C for up to one month. For extended storage, freeze in working aliquots. Repeated freezing and thawing is not recommended. If slight turbidity occurs upon prolonged storage, clarify the solution by centrifugation before use. Working dilution samples should be discarded if not used within 12 hours.
