Trp-His-Trp-Leu-Gln-Leu

Application

Trp-His-Trp-Leu-Gln-Leu (WHWLQL) was used as an internal standard in multiplex serum protein assay for evaluating the individual′s probability of having colorectal cancer (CRC).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Trp-His-Trp-Leu-Gln-Leu (WHWLQL) is the peptide fragment of alpha1-mating factor secreted by yeast that facilitates in the regulation of mating. Alpha1-mating factor can arrest many yeast strains in the G1-phase of the cell cycle.

Synchronously dividing haploid yeast cells were UV-irradiated in various stages of the cell cycle after release from alpha-factor arrest. In confirmation of earlier results (Chanet et al., 1973), in wild-type strains G1/S phase cells were found to be the most

Analogs of the Saccharomyces cerevisiae alpha-mating factor, Trp-His-Trp-Leu-Gln-Leu-Lys-Pro-Gly-Gln-Pro-Met-Tyr, where Lys7 and Gln10 were replaced with Cys, Cys(CH3), or Ser, were synthesized using solid-phase procedures on a phenylacetamidomethyl resin. Cyclo7,10[Cys7,X9,Cys10,Nle12]alpha-factor , where X=D-Val, D-Ala, L-Ala and Gly, were prepared by on-resin
