General description

18:0 PEG350 PE is a polyethylene glycol (PEG) conjugated phospholipid. PEGylated phospholipids are amphiphilic polymers, The molecular weight and exact mass are averages based on the polydispersity of PEG.

Application

18:1 PEG350 PE is suitable for use:
  • in the preparation of lipid bilayer membranes to estimate the diameter of the ion channel formed by the Bacillus anthracis protective antigen 63 (PA63)
  • to prepare Gd-C5F12-phospholipid nanobubbles
  • to form aqueous dispersions and to study metal cation induced cubic phase

Biochem/physiol Actions

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) conjugated phospholipids are known to protect the steric nature of liposomes. Hence, they are commonly recommended for use in liposome formulation. PEGylated lipids are used as drug carriers. Use of highly concentrated PEG-lipids makes the possibility of mixed micelles.
