General description

Bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate (BMP) is an acidic phospholipid. It is mostly located in the lysosomal and endosomal compartments within cells.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Bis(monoacylglycerol)phosphate (BMP) regulates late endosomes/lysosomes (LE/Lys) degradation pathway. It also modulates cholesterol homeostasis and trafficking of lysosomal enzymes. BMP is implicated in the digestion and recycling of membranous materials and synthesis of intra luminal vesicles.
