General description

18:1 PI(5)P (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol-4′-phosphate) is an ammonium salt of modified lipid which bears a double at the 9th carbon of dioleoyl group. Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI-4-P) is an abundant phosphoinositide species present in the plasma membrane.
Inositol phospholipid species are membrane-bound signaling molecules that have been implicated in almost all aspects of cellular physiology, including cellular growth, metabolism, proliferation, and survival.

Application

18:1 PI(5)P (1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phospho-(1′-myo-inositol-4′-phosphate) (ammonium salt)) has been used in protein−lipid overlay assay. It may be used in small unilamellar vesicles for liposome flotation assays. It may also be used in different lipid binding specificity studies.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylinositol 4-phosphate (PI-4-P) is an important factor, that is required for membrane traffic, polarized growth and cytoskeleton organization.

The phospholipid phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate [PI(4)P], generated at the Golgi and plasma membrane, has been implicated in many processes, including membrane traffic, yet its role in cell morphology changes, such as the budding to filamentous growth transition, is unknown. We show that

Phosphoinositides function as lipid signals in plant development and stress tolerance by binding with partner proteins. We previously reported that Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) phosphoinositide-specific phospholipase C2 functions in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress response. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms of

While the majority of phosphatidylinositol-4, 5-bisphosphate (PI-4, 5-P2) in mammalian cells is generated by the conversion of phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate (PI-4-P) to PI-4, 5-P2, a small fraction can be made by phosphorylating phosphatidylinositol-5-phosphate (PI-5-P). The physiological relevance of this second pathway is
