General description

Anti-EGFR (Ab-5), mouse monoclonal, clone EGFR.1, recognizes the ~170 kDa EGF receptor protein in A431 cells. It is validated for use in FC, IF, and IP.
Purified mouse monoclonal antibody generated by immunizing mice with the specified immunogen and fusing splenocytes with NS-1 mouse myeloma cells. Recognizes the ~170 kDa EGF receptor protein.
Recognizes the ~170 kDa EGF receptor protein in A431 cells. For neutralization studies Cat. No. GR15L is recommended.

Immunogen

Human
partially purified, human EGFR from A431 cells

Application

Flow Cytometry (1-5 g/ml)
Immunofluorescence (1-5 g/ml)
Immunoprecipitation (1-2 g/sample)
Neutralization Studies (1-2 g/ml; use Cat. No. GR15L; see application references)

Packaging

Please refer to vial label for lot-specific concentration.

Warning

Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)

Physical form

In 50 mM sodium phosphate, 0.2% gelatin, pH 7.5.

Analysis Note

Negative Control
HL-60 cells
Positive Control
A-431 cells

Other Notes

EGF-Receptor (Ab-5) binds to A431, HeLa-5 cells and other human cells but not to rodent cells. It inhibits EGF binding to its receptor and is an antagonist of in vivo EGF-stimulated tyrosine kinase activity. Does not cross-react to c-neu/erb B-2. Antibody should be titrated for optimal results in individual systems.

Preferred sites of endocytosis have been observed in various cell types, but whether they occur randomly or are linked to cellular cues is debated. Here, we quantified the sites of endocytosis of transferrin (Tfn) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) in
