Gene Information

human ... NOTCH2(4853)

General description

The NOTCH2 (notch 2) gene is mapped to human chromosome 1p12. Anti-NOTCH2 (cleaved-Ala1734) antibody detects endogenous levels of fragment of activated NOTCH2 (cleaved-Ala1734) protein.

Immunogen

The antiserum was produced against synthesized peptide derived from human NOTCH2.

Immunogen Range: 1715-1764

Biochem/physiol Actions

The NOTCH2 (notch2) gene is known to be involved in the proliferation and cell cycle progression in cancer cells. Upregulation of the gene is observed in salivary adenoid cystic carcinoma, and hepatocellular carcinoma. Deletion of NOTCH2 offers tumor cells resistance to chemotherapeutic agents such as 5-fluorouracil. NOTCH2 plays an important role in the regulation of liver development. The NOTCH2 gene is associated with the development of diabetic nephropathy.
