General description

Native creatine phosphokinase-MM from human skeletal muscle. Catalyzes the conversion of creatine and ATP to phosphocreatine and ADP.
Native creatine phosphokinase-MM from human skeletal muscle. Catalyzes the reversible conversion of creatine and ATP to phosphocreatine and ADP. Plasma levels of CPK-MM are a useful indicator of acute myocardial infarction.

Unit Definition

One unit is defined as the amount of enzyme that will catalyze the formation of 1 µmol of ATP from ADP and creatine phosphate per min at 37°C, pH 7.4.

Physical form

In 10 mM Sodium Chloride, 5 mM Succinate, 5 mM β-Mercaptoethanol, 1 mM EDTA, 50% Glycerol, pH 7.1 +/- 0.1.

Preparation Note

Prepared from tissue of individuals that have been shown by certified tests to be negative for HBsAg and for antibodies to HIV and HCV.

Reconstitution

Following initial thaw, aliquot and freeze (-20°C).
