Biochem/physiol Actions

AZGP1 (α-2-glycoprotein 1, zinc-binding) is a soluble, truncated secretory major histocompatibility complex-related protein involved in lipid degradation. It has structural homology with the class I major histocompatibility complex (MHC) heavy chain. It possesses molecular weight of 38,500 Mr. It consists of a large groove analogous to class I MHC peptide binding grooves. It has been suggested that AZGP1 may be involved in the expression of the immune response.
