Cell Line Origin

Hepa-1c1c7, genetic modification, Xenobiotic-Responsive Element (XRE)

Cell Line Description

HeB5 is a derivative of Hepa-1c1c7 (Sigma product number 95090613) cell line stably transfected with a firefly luciferase reporter construct bearing Xenobiotic-Responsive Element (XRE) driven by a TATA promoter. HeB5 can be used for detection of mouse CYP1A induction by chemicals.

Culture Medium

Alpha-MEM + 2 mM L-Glutamine (G7513) + 10% FBS / FCS (F2442) + 16μg/ml Blasticidin S HCL.

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:4 to 1:10, i.e. seeding at 2 x 104 cells/cm2 using 0.05% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37 °C.
