General description
Method: Colorimetric, with test strips, 10 - 25 - 50 - 100 - 250 - 500 mg/L (NO3-), MQuant®
The MQuant® Nitrate test strips can be used for quick and easy monitoring of drinking water, process water and wastewater, as well as in aquarium water where limits can quickly be exceeded. They can also be used to determine nitrate in food e.g. potatoes. On the strip nitrate ions are reduced to nitrite ions by a reducing agent, which then react to a red-violet dye. The nitrate concentration is measured semi-quantitatively by visual comparison of the reaction zone of the test strip with the fields of a color scale. Each strip also features a second reaction zone (alert zone), the color of which changes in the presence of nitrite ions. The test strips are perfect for pre-testing a sample in an economic and quick way to estimate the nitrate concentration and a possible dilution factor prior to using a quantitative method such as a Spectroquant® Nitrate test.
