We are committed to bringing you Greener Alternative Products, which belongs to one of the four categories of greener alternatives. This product serves as an electrolyte with excellent ionic conductivity and is commonly used in the production of lithium-ion batteries, thus it has been enhanced for energy efficiency. Click here for more information.

Application

Lithium tetrafluoroborate (LiBF4) Technipur® is primarily designed for R&D applications as an electrolyte salt in lithium-ion batteries, where it enhances ionic conductivity and electrochemical stability, thereby improving the performance and lifespan of the batteries. As an additive in electrolyte solutions, LiBF4 stabilizes the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer and reduces electrolyte degradation, enhancing overall battery performance. In a recent study, it has been observed that graphite//LiNi0.6Co0.2Mn0.2O2 cells deliver the highest reversible capacity at low temperature (−20 °C), when LiBF4-based ester electrolyte containing 1% lithium bis(trimethylsilyl) phosphate (LiTMSP) is used as an electrolyte. The other application of the product is in organic chemistry where LiBF4 acts as a catalyst in various organic synthesis reactions, improving reaction efficiency and selectivity. For example, it is used in aza-Michael addition reactions with aromatic amines and electron-deficient alkenes.
