Gene Information

human ... SSB(6741)

General description

The Sjogren syndrome antigen B (SSB) gene with 11 exons contains two alternative promoters 1 (P1) and 1′ (P1′) coding for SSB protein. The gene is mapped to human chromosome 2q31.1. The gene coded for a RNA-binding protein that is ubiquitously expressed.

Immunogen

SSB (AAH01289, 1 a.a. ~ 408 a.a) full-length recombinant protein with GST tag. MW of the GST tag alone is 26 KDa.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sjogren syndrome antigen B (SSB) plays a vital role in various stages of the RNA metabolism such as RNA polymerase III protection from exonuclease digestion, processing of specific cellular and viral RNA precursors, serving as an RNA chaperone, affecting telomere homeostasis and stimulating microRNA expression. It promotes proliferation, migration and invasion of cancer cells in vitro . In addition, it also enhances tumor growth in vivo. Overexpression of the gene has been observed in various types of cancers.
