Application

All Prestige Antibodies Powered by Atlas Antibodies are developed and validated by the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project and as a result, are supported by the most extensive characterization in the industry.

The Human Protein Atlas project can be subdivided into three efforts: Human Tissue Atlas, Cancer Atlas, and Human Cell Atlas. The antibodies that have been generated in support of the Tissue and Cancer Atlas projects have been tested by immunohistochemistry against hundreds of normal and disease tissues and through the recent efforts of the Human Cell Atlas project, many have been characterized by immunofluorescence to map the human proteome not only at the tissue level but now at the subcellular level. These images and the collection of this vast data set can be viewed on the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) site by clicking on the Image Gallery link. We also provide Prestige Antibodies® protocols and other useful information.

Biochem/physiol Actions

RAD1 (RAD1 homolog, S. pombe) is a component of Rad9-Rad1-Hus1 complex (9-1-1 complex) highly expressed in the testis. Each protein of 9-1-1 complex has a binding site for holding the other two partners. It plays a key role in cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways. It is activated by any DNA stress such as DNA damage and incomplete DNA replication. It reflects response at the S-phase and G2/M arrest stage to identify DNA damage. Altered expression of RAD1 have been reported in non-small-cell lung cancer, squamous cell carcinomas, adenocarcinomas, and bladder cancer.

Features and Benefits

Prestige Antibodies® are highly characterized and extensively validated antibodies with the added benefit of all available characterization data for each target being accessible via the Human Protein Atlas portal linked just below the product name at the top of this page. The uniqueness and low cross-reactivity of the Prestige Antibodies® to other proteins are due to a thorough selection of antigen regions, affinity purification, and stringent selection. Prestige antigen controls are available for every corresponding Prestige Antibody and can be found in the linkage section.

Every Prestige Antibody is tested in the following ways:
  • IHC tissue array of 44 normal human tissues and 20 of the most common cancer type tissues.
  • Protein array of 364 human recombinant protein fragments.

The Schizosaccharomyces pombe rad1+ cell cycle checkpoint control gene is required for S-phase and G2/M arrest in response to both DNA damage and incomplete DNA replication. We isolated and characterized the putative human RAD1 (hRAD1) and mouse RAD1 (mRAD1) homologs

DNA damage activates cell cycle checkpoint signaling pathways that coordinate cell cycle arrest and DNA repair. Three of the proteins involved in checkpoint signaling, Rad1, Hus1, and Rad9, have been shown to interact by immunoprecipitation and yeast two-hybrid studies. However

The DNA damage response (DDR) is brought about by a protein kinase cascade that orchestrates DNA repair through transcriptional and posttranslational mechanisms. Cell cycle arrest is a hallmark of the DDR. We screened for cells that lacked damage-induced cell cycle

Cell cycle checkpoints are gating mechanisms that govern cell cycle progression in the presence of DNA damage and incomplete DNA replication. The Schizosaccharomyces pombe Rad1 protein is an essential component of cell cycle checkpoints activated by both types of genomic
