General description

Chitosanase, Streptomyces sp. N174, CAS 51570-20-8, is a member of a new class of enzymes with antifungal properties. Efficiently catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylated chitosan (0 to 60%).
Native Chitosanase from Streptomyces species. A member of a new class of enzymes with antifungal properties that efficiently catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylated chitosan (0 to 60%). Does not hydrolyze chitin or carboxylmethylcellulose. Acts by splitting the β1,4-glycosidic linkages of GlcNAc-GlcN (Km = 29.3 µg/ml) and GlcNAc-GlcN. Its activity generally increases with decreasing acetylation of chitosan. Suitable for the efficient preparation of protoplasts of Mucor and other Zygomycetes, allowing the genetic manipulation of these fungi.
Native Chitosanase from Streptomyces species. Chromatographically purified. Chitosanase is a member of a new class of enzymes with antifungal properties that efficiently catalyzes the hydrolysis of acetylated chitosan (0 to 60%). Does not hydrolyze chitin or carboxylmethyl cellulose. Acts by splitting the b1,4-glycosidic linkages of GlcN-GlcN (Km = 29.3 µg/ml) and GlcNAc-GlcN. Its activity generally increases with decreasing acetylation of chitosan. Suitable for the efficient preparation of protoplasts of Mucor and other Zygomycetes, allowing the genetic manipulation of these fungi. Has an optimal pH of 5.5, an optimal temperature of 65°C for 10 min, and a recommended temperature of 37°C.
