Gene Information

human ... PHF1(5252)

General description

PHF1 is a PHD finger protein that regulates p53-dependent cell growth arrest and apoptosis. The Tudor domain of PHF1 is known to interact with histone H3K36me3.
Rabbit Anti-PHF1 antibody recognizes bovine, canine, and human PHF1.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the N terminal region of human PHF1

Application

Rabbit Anti-PHF1 (AB1) antibody is suitable for western blot applications at a concentration of 1 μg/ml.

Biochem/physiol Actions

PHF1 has significant sequence similarity with Drosophila Polycomblike. It contains a zinc finger-like PHD (plant homeodomain) finger which is distinct from other classes of zinc finger motifs and which shows the typical Cys4-His-Cys3 arrangement. PHD finger genes are thought to belong to a diverse group of transcriptional regulators possibly affecting eukaryotic gene expression by influencing chromatin structure. This gene encodes a protein with significant sequence similarity to Drosophila Polycomblike. The encoded protein contains a zinc finger-like PHD (plant homeodomain) finger which is distinct from other classes of zinc finger motifs and which shows the typical Cys4-His-Cys3 arrangement. Two transcript variants have been found for this gene. This gene encodes a protein with significant sequence similarity to Drosophila Polycomblike. PRC2 is the major H3K27 methyltransferase and is responsible for maintaining repressed gene expression patterns throughout development. It contains four core components: EZH2, EED, SUZ12 and RbAp46/48 and some cell-type specific components. In this study, we focused on characterizing the

Polycomb group protein PHF1 is well known as a component of a novel EED-EZH2·Polycomb repressive complex 2 complex and plays important roles in H3K27 methylation and Hox gene silencing. PHF1 is also involved in the response to DNA double-strand breaks
