Gene Information

General description

FABP1, also known as Fatty acid-binding protein, Liver Fatty acid-binding protein, Fatty acid-binding protein 1, Liver-type fatty acid-binding protein, L-FABP, Squalene- and sterol-carrier protein, SCP, Z-protein, or p14, and encoded by the gene FABP1/FABPL, is an important fatty acid binding and transport protein. FABP1 is produced in the liver and is part of a family of lipid carrier proteins. FABP1 facilitate the transfer of fatty acids between extra and intracellular membranes. FABP1 level in the blood is used as a biomarker for obesity and type II diabetes. Additionally, recent research indicates that FABP1 can modulate stellate cell activation and this may lead to diet-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, thus FABP1 is a key focus of metabolic research.

Immunogen

Recombinant protein corresponding to rat FABP1.

Application

Anti-FABP1 Antibody detects level of FABP1 & has been published & validated for use in FABP1.
Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution from a representative lot detected FABP1 in wild type mouse liver cytosol and not in LFABP-1 -/- mouse liver cytosol.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human liver tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected FABP1 in 10 µg of human liver tissue lysate.

Target description

It has long been known that mammalian enterocytes coexpress two members of the fatty acid-binding protein (FABP) family, the intestinal FABP (IFABP) and the liver FABP (LFABP). Both bind long-chain fatty acids and have similar though not identical distributions in
